And So It Begins

Today was my first infusion for the new protocol. I didn’t get the port yet, they wanted to see how I was going to tolerate the side effects. I’m writing this on Day 5 and my side effects are exactly as expected – sore throat and mouth. It could be worse!

Here’s what AI has to say about these medications:

What to Expect Next
Because you are only on Day 5, you are currently in the peak onset window for these symptoms. The good news from clinical data is that stomatitis behaves as an early-onset side effect that typically gets better and does not accumulate over time.
• The First 2 Weeks: This is generally the most challenging period for mouth and throat irritation.
• The Turnaround: For patients actively managing the symptoms
(which I am doing!), sores and pain tend to become fewer, smaller, and significantly less painful after the first two weeks of treatment. Clinical data shows that these events stabilize and new mouth sores rarely develop after the first 2 to 3 cycles of treatment.

So yeah, not great, but this part of eating soft food won’t be forever, and I remain optimistic!
