January 6

Tick-tick on the To Do list – and tomorrow it’s Bon Voyage for me.

Windy just gave me this Mercury Dime, Mercury being the patron god of Travelers (and commerce and poetry and thieves among others…). The silver treasures we saw at the Getty Villa last week were from a temple dedicated to Mercury so he was on our collective mind and now I have a Mercury Dime to join me on this trip. Oh goodie!

We enjoyed a great…

We enjoyed a great afternoon with a toes-in-the-sand lunch and a stroll from the Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica. It was such a beautiful January day.

Then I had some…

Then I had some final business to conduct with Merlyn before I leave, and I had dinner with the fam. Thanks guys.

January 3

I missed Marsha and Tom’s New Year’s Eve party but I didn’t miss the chili…I went over there today for dinner and Tom gave me a quart to take home. Thank you! This is one small slice of Marsha’s holiday candles, maybe 6%. Wow.

Sharon and Nancy and I had a lovely Bon Voyage morning walking along the bluffs in Palisades Park and eating lunch, a delight I won’t be enjoying again until March.

We mostly went to…

We mostly went to see the “Ancient Luxury and the Roman Silver Treasure from Berthouville”.

It was quite grand and well worth the visit. We even did a tour which added depth to the experience. It was an interesting affirmation of how well the Getty does signs because as knowledgeable and enthusiastic as the guide was, most of the information was available on the signs and in the video.

Along with maybe half…

Along with maybe half of America I signed up for the free month of Amazon Prime making it possible to delay the holiday shopping season by yet another week.

So now I’m watching Transparent and much to my surprise I think it’s a pretty good show.

…in addition to the…

…in addition to the many delightful restaurants, beautiful walks along the cliffs, and fine hotel, there are tide pools for exploring!
