April 18

Click here for more pictures of the adorable dogs at David’s Dog Park in Ventura.

We enjoyed a walk along the beach reached by taking two steps outside his front door. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at a cafe two blocks up the street. David has indeed found himself his own Slice ‘O Paradise.

Look what I made…

May 29

Look what I made from one of the desert shots. Whooo. Just imagine all the replicating you can do from here. Whooo!

It’s spiky and scary I think, but the colors are so desert and the shape is cool. Now I need to make a kinder, gentler one!

Sandy’s family had the…

Sandy’s family had the memorial service for her father today, only 8 months after they lost their mother. It’s fitting I think to include a picture of baby Lucas of the melt me eyes.

Here’s Mom from Mother’s…

Here’s Mom from Mother’s Day where she looks so chippy.

This day she said she wanted to go up in a hot air baloon for her 90th birthday which is the first time she has mentioned the future in Months. A few days later she said she wants to go to Switzerland!

Ann put on a…

May 13

Ann put on a soiree for her son Josh who is here from Iraq for a couple weeks of R&R. This is the day before Mother’s Day and no way that all the moms can’t help but put ourselves in Ann’s place.

The rest of the names might not happen until I get home!

Big D and his…

May 12

Big D and his sweet baby girl. Rome’s first trip to the ZOO! Oh goodie!

During May the zoo…

During May the zoo is featuring a See The Babies! tour. They have a cool little map that takes you to all the families with babies. I so wish I’d had a tape recorder with me. The oooing and ahhhing and ‘oh look Look it’s a bayyybie!’ was so utterly delightful.

Almost as delightful as Rome gurgling and laughing and kicking her happy little legs.

We arrived just in…

We arrived just in time to see the attendants give the hippos some treats. Like several heads of lettuce, a pail of apples, and a pail of something that was gone by the time we got there.

It’s like a mini-adventure, you never know what you’ll find, wandering around the zoo.

It is very cool…

It is very cool how all the groups of kids, and they are Everywhere, all have their own distinctive shirts. What a necessary feature of outings with a few dozen swarming youth. So cute! Flamingo necks, whoow.

Check out that left…

Check out that left foot. She is >< close to true locomotion and another Life Style adjustment. Right now when she pushes off she hurls herself flat on her face which is, as you can well imagine, a shocking place to find ones self.

Well Well, and what…

May 5

Well Well, and what have we here?!!? Rome Stands! Angela took this on April 30. I mentioned to Angela how Rome’s babyhood is passing by so much more quickly for me than my own kids’ babyhood. Angela noted that I have been sleeping quite nicely thank you these last seven months. Ah, yes, that.

Windy got the call…

May 4

Windy got the call at 9pm Tuesday night. Wanna move tomorrow or Saturday? Wellll. OK, tomorrow. So the gang gathered to Do The Move.

I’m so lucky my two sisters are around. My mother is so lucky I’m not her only child.

The new Santa Monica…

The new Santa Monica library is very nice and not at all what I expected. I did get this one shot off before an attendant was at my shoulder, no photos please. This is one of the downsides of my honkin’ Ka-Klink slr.

There’s a big open patio and cafe. From the street it looks like a solid building but no. So it’s smaller inside than you’d expect. Walking down the aisles of a library scanning book titles is Good. You feel enlivened. I tried their software though, and Amazon is better…

And computers. Wow. There are dozens of computers with library specific software and fifty computers connected to the internet, all free to residents. And there is also free WiFi, plenty of tables and chairs, plenty of light. Some people were reading books but far more people were using the computers.

The vines are recovering….

The vines are recovering. This whole fence used to be covered with these flowers until the construction crew hit the place with their back hoes and left only a few sticks. But these guys must really like it here since they’re coming back strong! I wonder how they’re going to feel when they lose their NW light?

Roberts Family World! …

Roberts Family World! You go!! This is the Dad and his two sweet-baby-girls at the finish line of the Nashville Country Music Marathon. Kim did the 1/2 and Mindy and Bill did the whole thing. Cheryl cheered and urged them on. We bow before you.

and some end-of-April…

May 1 and some end-of-April stories.

Click here for an update to the Getty Villa in Malibu.

I was checking on the internet to make a reservation just to have one because I know rezzies are so hard to get. Wow, there was Nothing available At All (they open reservations only 3 months in advance) except Today. Get up and go Today. So Nancy came by and we went.

Les, in LA from…

Les, in LA from Boston to speak at a conference. He rented himself this convertible car for some serious California Dreamin’.

LACMA. We went…

LACMA. We went to see the Klimt show. Now I can’t even remember the last time I was at LACMA, the Getty being such a draw. For one thing, they hassle you about your backpack and No Photos Allowed. I am going to go back soon though, to get reacquainted with the collection.

Major renovations are set…

Major renovations are set too. You can see the models in the lobby. Who remembers the last renovation? Remember how we couldn’t figure out why they designed such a ridiculous entry? Now I’m used to it.

We had a potluck…

We had a potluck picnic at one of the tables in the quad. It was a very recommendable location. The food, of course, was de-lish. Sandy, Nancy, me, Nancy, Sharon.

They had several pavilions…

They had several pavilions set up for children’s art projects. Here the idea was to make a self portrait with bright colors. I reeeally wanted to do it too but controlled myself so as not to embarrass my friends…
