Easter Weekend

Rome and Lilly displaying their stash!

Darryl and Angela hosted a delightful Easter Brunch with Gary and Liz in attendance too. The food was delicious and the company, also delicious.

.

On Saturday while D&A went to a wedding and Rome worked Lilly and I had a great day! I’m going to write it down to remember. Let’s see, we went to the mall for Darryl’s birthday present, had a sushi dinner (avocado roll-veggie gyoza-mango salad for Lilly!), Yogurtland Of Course in the most Spring colors ever, we watched Moana, saw some music videos, got me up on Spotify, cut fruit for the morning breakfast .. what else ..

.

And what’s Easter without my favorite chocolate bunny rabbit joke:

First Walk At Palisades Park

Sharon and I shared a walk at Palisades Park, my first time this year. I didn’t make it all the way to the end, we rested at the Rose Garden and then went back to enjoy an early lunch at our favorite post-walk Bloody Mary spot. Yay!

We love our visors! I wanted to feature our visors in this photo but you know, me and selfies, not so good…

Where Are My Friends

Oh my goodness. Stories and photos forthcoming!

Muriel is in Jerusalem. (nytimes)

Hilda is in Tehran. (nytimes)

A Visit To The Hammer

Alex and Carol come up from Long Beach for a quick catch-up, some tasty food, and a visit to the newly reopened Hammer Museum.

All that changed was a remodel in the lobby and they incorporated the bank next door into the museum.

In the old bank building.

I want to copy in a long section from the card on the wall for this Rembrandt work below called Painting of a Man with a Black Hat. I wouldn’t have thought of this explanation but I like it.

Simon Schama: “While he went out of his way to make the sumptuous details of the costume exquisitely tangible, Rembrandt must also have appreciated that he was still required to pay attention to an overall impression of modesty and self-control. Hence the hat. Grasped by both hands, it makes the sitter appear caught on the verge between his private and public self (as if either about to make an exit or having just made an entrance), and its simplicity is in appealing, almost homely contrast to the heroic glamour of his coat.”

Part of a very interesting collection from China.

Time for a haircut? Ya think?!

Cirque du Soleil

Ken and I met at the Microsoft Theater to enjoy Corteo, the latest Cirque to come to LA. We have seen many of these shows together and agreed that although this was not among the best, it was still fun and there were many memorable bits.

Here’s the story from their website: “Corteo, which means “cortege” in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.

And then we went into Santa Monica for dinner and a nice visit. Thanks Ken!

.

Back at the New Year look what Pam got Ken for his birthday. Awwww.

Earliest Ever

Having a free day I decided to go for the win, the big TIC, drawing a line through it!

Somehow I Got Stuck At 25,000

Darryl, Angela, Rome, Leo, Lilly, Cali, Andre. Windy and I are missing.

User error, of course, but I just noticed that my camera was stuck on asa/iso of 25,000. Oh goodness, that’s a grainy photo since asa/iso 400 is already leaning toward grainy. It happens to me so often, I make a change and forget about it. Because I think I’ll remember, but no, I won’t remember.

Darryl and Angela hosted a delightful afternoon and dinner party in honor of Cali being here and Andre’s first visit to LA. We played Uno with 9 people and it was a total gas.

PT

Greg and Lydia from their website.

I’ve gone to Physical Therapy twice a week for a month+ which as been quite excellent. My favorite part, surprise, a therapeutic foot massage to kick it off and an ice and electricity buzz to end. In the middle I have to do exercises which is not my favorite part, but I can measure my improvement. Now it seems all about recovering strength and balance since it hardly ever hurts.

Me (still occasionally swollen), according to Greg, blue taped like the other elite athletes who go there. I should add that the office is across the street from the Whole Foods that is down the block from my house. Just like I like it.

Cali And Andre

Windy’s granddaughter Cali (the one who rescued me from The Incident) is here for Spring Break with her boyfriend Andre. They are both going to college in Oregon, Cali from Texas and Andre an Oregonian born and bred, which explains why this sunny sunny day up at the all-white-everywhere Getty Center was blinding to our Andre. So much sun. We had a lovely time.

From My Tenant Anna

She set up this hummingbird feeder although some of the other small birds are trying to enjoy it too.

Every Guest Conductor

These days every guest conductor at the Disney Concert Hall is auditioning for a job. (Sorry for the grainy picture – it was dark…)

.

Our Gustavo is leaving in a year and who will replace him is all the buzz. This conductor might be under consideration – a woman with cred. Her name is Susanna Ulla Marjukka Mälkki, a Finnish conductor. She holds the post of Principal Guest Conductor at the LA Phil as well as Chief Conductor at the Helsinki Philharmonic. This is an excellent article from the NY Times about the orchestra’s history and future.

The concert I saw with Marsha kicked off with Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances. It was like being inside an impressionist painting, at the park, sitting on the grass, listening to the band stationed under the pavilion. Light and lovely.

The second piece, welllll, during intermission we were reading about it and I said, oh, so Yoko Ono-y it is. And it was! It seemed such an unfortunate use of all these wonderful musicians. Although also the musicians had to be really good to get through it. It’s called Double Concerto by Felipe Lara. You can see a 2021 performance with the Helsinki Philharmonic on Vimeo that looks just like the one we saw. Grammy winner esperanza spalding (her spellling) was on (weird…) bass.

.

We ate a pre-show meal at Vespaio across from The Broad reminding me that I haven’t been there in ages, or to MOCA for that matter. Gotta go!

Shopping

Leo, Rome, Lilly

And then Lilly and I got our favorite, Yogurtland, gladly joined by Leo and Rome.

Slivovitz And Wisteria

When Marija gets homemade slivovitz from back home in Croatia (this time via her sister in Germany) it’s always a big event in my life. Back in the 1990s when I visited Marija and met her extended family in Croatia I was presented with slivovitz in every home, at any hour, in little glasses on a silver tray, and it was the most sincere expression of welcome. I think of them every time we drink slivovitz.

The brother-in-law I met who used to make it all the time passed away and his son has taken over. In these two bottles the slivovitz was made by different men and the two were so different I loved getting to try both!

.

Even my old wisteria, the ones that died in the fumigation, always bloomed in March. Still nothing on the left.

Different And Fun

Marsha, me, Sharon, Mark

Marsha invited me to take Kelly’s ticket for an evening of food and entertainment. It was different – different people, different artists, and different places.

We ate at a tasty Italian restaurant in Torrance, Aliotta’s via Firenze, and then went to a Los Cancioneros concert at the Armstrong Theatre where they were performing a piece written by their director, and also they did Mozart’s Requiem. They had an orchestra, something I always appreciate, and added singers, including the soloists, from a local junior college.

The concert started right on time at 7pm so that was good, I managed to stay awake through the whole thing and enjoyed it very much. Marsha’s friend Mindy sings with Los Cancioneros so it was good to see her again too. All in all very thumbs up.

In September

Windy came over and we spent h.o.u.r.s researching accommodation possibilities, flights, day trips and not-to-miss highlights, pouring over the map, to start preparations for our four week Italian stravaganza. We are molto eccitato!

A Pomegranate And A Stroll

Rome and I went for a short walk after lunch at Eat At Joe’s, one block down and one block back, because I felt up for a short walk(!…look at me walking!). We took some pictures and made a cool collage with both of our contributions. Rome did the photoshop while I hovered.

And then we went to Starbucks as usual and as usual Rome bought me my favorite treat. This time they were having a Friday special and we happily took advantage of it. Rome’s favorite drink is on the board of barista recommendations: “Pistachio Cream frappe w/2 scoops of Macha and 1 pump of Hazelnut..”

AI Art

Susie and I went to the Jeffrey Deitch gallery in Hollywood to see the exhibit “Refik Anadol: Living Paintings”. It’s all ooozy and constantly reshaping itself – psych-o-delic of the first order.

From their website.

From the internet.

I was trying to find some details of both the exhibit and the artist. Then I decided since this was an AI art project why don’t I ask ChatGPT! about it and the answer was so on point I include it here:

Refik Anadol is a Turkish-American artist who is known for his innovative work with data, artificial intelligence, and immersive media. One of his notable projects is “Living Paintings,” which explores the intersection of technology and art.

“Living Paintings” is an installation that uses machine learning algorithms to create dynamic and ever-changing paintings. The artwork is created by feeding thousands of images into a neural network, which then generates new images based on the patterns and features it has learned.

The result is a mesmerizing display of moving colors and shapes, which are projected onto a large screen. The images constantly shift and evolve, creating a unique experience for each viewer. Anadol describes “Living Paintings” as “a living, breathing artwork that is never the same twice.”

The project was inspired by Anadol’s fascination with the way that technology can be used to create new forms of art. He sees “Living Paintings” as a way to explore the creative potential of AI and to challenge traditional notions of what art can be.

“Living Paintings” has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Pera Museum in Istanbul and the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. The installation has received widespread critical acclaim and has been praised for its innovative use of technology and its ability to engage viewers in a new and exciting way.

Overall, Refik Anadol’s “Living Paintings” is a groundbreaking project that showcases the incredible potential of technology and its ability to transform our understanding of art. It is a powerful reminder of the creative power of human imagination and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.

Some near-by buildings that caught my eye with their above-ground parking..

Remember Darryl’s Wires

He made one every day for a year (March 2015-2016). Every day, and this one was from day 100. I put dibs on it from day 100 because I knew it was the one I wanted. Darryl came over, put up a new shelf, and tidied up the sculpture. If he ever makes the 365 Wires site live again I’ll add the link here!

Right Side Wisteria And The Shed

The right side is coming out. The left side isn’t even budding.

.

Lona has been away for a while so I got to hire Cecilia for a couple Thursdays and one of those days she cleaned the shed. It’s still not a room but getting closer and now at least it’s clean!

Food From Around

I made kumquat preserves from the kumquats in my tree. One time a neighbor asked if he could have some kumquats but mostly people stroll by, I see them furtively looking all around, and then they help themselves to a few. I don’t seem to really mind too much since there are hundreds of them, but asking is nice.

I also made a pot of chicken and vegetables so I would have something for the freezer. I had yummy phở with Jo Ann, perfect for a cold rainy night, and another night Muriel made gorgeous pasta and tomato sauce. Have you ever had tomato sauce made with a stick of butter? Rich!

Three Movie Days Until The Oscars

Nancy and I went to the Laemmle to watch the Academy Awards Nominated Documentary Shorts and it was a shockingly excellent program. In recent years the shorts (Documentary, Live Action, Animated) have been a source of one misery after another but this time the documentaries were all wonderful. Catch ’em if you can!

Here’s the site: https://shorts.tv/theoscarshorts/

HBD Merlyn

Merlyn and I went out for some photophoto and food in celebration of Merlyn’s birthday. We do well on outings enjoying as we do a similar pace of walking and stopping for a picture. Stepping and stopping, it works out well.

We went down to the area in San Pedro that takes us to views of cool bridges..

..and to Fermin Park with the Korean Friendship Bell. The top picture is from the park. Below is the figure welcoming guests to the Friendship Bell.

That’s Merlyn and Catalina Island, 26 miles across the sea.

We had lunch here at the 22nd Street Landing Seafood Grill & Bar, serving port people, locals and visitors alike since 1990. And then we brought home Happy Birthday Ice Cream. What’s a happy birthday without a sweet treat?!

Forgotten Birthday Picture

Happy Birthday to the twins Ljubica and Marija, and to Alicia. Our Monday February birthdays but I forgot a picture during the party so I took one two Mondays later.

Strathearn Historical Park and Museum

Burt and Char took me to visit this Simi Valley landmark. We had Italian lunch first, and tea and cookies after. It was a lovely day. Both of the ‘boys’ John and Bradley, were home so I got big hugs which is a delight. These are the grandsons B&C have been raising since the boys were small, and now 18 years later, they are very much Not small. Time flies!

Our tour. You have to have the tour if you want to get into the buildings and it is very interesting! Our guide was a slow walkin’ slow talkin’ guy but full of info and love for this place.

Down By The Sea

It’s a song kids. I seem to have a tune for every expression drawing confusion and eye-rolling from the youth. I asked Leo what he did today and he said he Got Up, Got Out Of Bed, so what’s a gal to do? Did you drag a comb across your head?!

Today we had a beach party (Down By The Sea-eee)! What FUN!

Rome, Leo, Amandine, Lilly (sorry Lilly, I didn’t notice your eyes!)

Lilly’s picture. Me too! We brought a picnic cloth, a table, a couple bags of food, and had a beautiful time. The kids all ran back to the Strand for ice cream, then they ran down to enjoy the shore, and I just sat here on my comfortable seat soaking up the cool refreshing sun.

Lilly’s pictures of the lifeguard station.

Oh yeah, Leo, cute, sweet, fun, good job Rome.

Rome’s pictures. They have a treasure chest of craft supplies and we dressed up my phone Real Good.

Seriously Engaging The Practice of Stoicism

My computer bit the dust. Deep breaths, sigh, look to the practice of Stoicism. It was time. Now I have a new ‘good!’ computer for photoshop And a new ‘good!’ computer for most other things. I’ll still have to take the photoshop computer on trips but the internet computer is amazing and all I’d need for kicking around town!

Jackie And Shadow

I’ve been quite obsessed with Jackie and Shadow since Cynthia sent me the link some time ago. It’s a soap opera, a saga, an epic journey. You can google Big Bear Eagle Cam and get tons of enlivening information, an extended family history of the eagles in Big Bear Valley, and links to the live cam as well as the facebook page (you have to follow the page but I promise, it’s the best thing you’ll ever find on facebook!). It’s been an awesome journey and I suspect will continue to be so.

Not least of the appeal is the technology that gets you right in there in all the details of the lives of Jackie and Shadow. The stability and clarity of the camera is a marvel. The running commentary from the followers world-wide who just LOOOVE J&S, it’s so sweet, I can even overlook all the anthropomorphism and supplications to the divine.

Check it out, you won’t be sorry!

Soup Plantation

Windy and Betsy came over for lunch and in this cold Cold weather that’s rainy and windy too, we thought, soup! So this was a ton of fun, and tasty!

Friday Fun

Rome and I went for lunch at Mitsuwa while Lilly was still in school. Rome brought back this little ‘Ice Cream Parlor’ kit for Lilly which was fun for all to put together, delicious for none to eat, but fun was the point anyway!

Mirror mirror on the wall and all!

For Some Reason

I was out during one of the storms, I don’t remember why, but then there it was, a rainbow. Rainbows make you look.

The internet offers pictures of LA when it snows nearby. It’s like we’ve never seen snow.

Feb 21 And 22 With Betsy

Betsy, Windy’s daughter-in-law, has been in town for a while and I’ve had the pleasure of her company often. Besides for which she is a gifted Physical Therapist so you know my ankle sprain has been cared for most tenderly. (Yes! Better! I can FEEL the light at the end of the tunnel!)

We celebrated Jeff’s birthday on the 21st and on the 22nd we went to LA Louver and ate at Ospi around the corner from the gallery.

We Love This!

Feed Me Pasta and Tell Me I’m Pretty

Yes please.

It was a pleasure having you here Betsy and I’m looking forward to our time to hang out in June!

A Monday With Three Birthdays

I’m disappointed in myself since this would have been a great opportunity to have a picture of all the February birthdays. It doesn’t have to be this day, no, I can do it any Monday and stick that picture here, which I Will Do! Thanks to Marsha for making it birthday-special. And y’know, all the hosts make it special Every Week. Crazy, right?!

Photo Day With Ingalill

Lill’s backpack is very exciting – LA 2028!

We went on a DTLA Street Art tour and then a little walk-about on the 5th Street Bridge. We weren’t raving about the tour but were very glad to have done it. And the bridge was a Sunday bikers’ extravaganza.

Our guide was a street artist himself from the olden days and particularly told us about..

..the area near this DTLA Art Park where they had installed canvas on the fences surrounding the ‘park’.

Casting our eye away from the canvases we get some real walls which I like.

When looking at street art one must look down as well as up.

A few more street scenes.

.

And now a few blocks away we find the 5th Street Bridge and the 6th Street Aqueduct. We decided to park and take a stroll. That’s Ingalill, and we’re impressed.

You don’t see a lot of cars because it’s Sunday and mostly because…

..the bikers have blocked one entire end of the bridge and the surrounding streets for a mile. Bikers have been a presence on this bridge since it opened less than a year ago. Here’s a link to a NY Times article with better pictures and good stories about the first few weeks of the bridge’s opening: the Fifth Street Bridge and the Sixth Street Aqueduct.

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/28/us/los-angeles-bridge-viaduct.html

And they’re off. We left before they were even finished crossing the bridge and doing their crazy wheelies and screaming turns.

Some side-of-the-bridge tagging that took hanging off of ropes I’d guess and below, cell towers in LA.

HBD Gary And Dev

That yucca bud is as big as your head!

We’re all out here in Yucca Valley at Gary, Liz, and Dev’s home to celebrate Gary and Dev’s birthdays. Darryl, Angela, Dude, Lilly, Oliver, Rome, me, Dev, Liz, Gary. It was a lovely afternoon!

I came out straight from Long Beach the day before and slept over. We kicked around, had a walk, looked at the views, ate a home cooked dinner, it was delightful.

In the morning Gary took us for breakfast at an historic collection of buildings that have served many purposes, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright Jr. and built between 1946-1961. Most recently the property is named The Institute of Mentalphysics and also The Joshua Tree Resort Center.

More Long Beach

Alex and Carol were off early and I went directly to Merlyn and Hilda’s to spend the day, the evening, and the night with Hilda, Merlyn being out of town. We had a lovely time including dinner with Hilda’s friend Erin who is moving to South Carolina to be closer to family.

Look at how lovely Hilda and Erin look. Of course it’s their lovely faces but also those jackets. Both of them. I really must finally upgrade my wardrobe since I looked like someone recently emerged from a week of being lost in the forest.

A Sleepover And A Surprise

Alex and Carol are getting ready for some extended commitments and travel so I got to sleep over on the boat for a nice visit before it all kicked in. This picture is from October 2022 because I didn’t get anything from today.

But Surprise! Cynthia got a last minute appointment (as they all are last minute) at the Mexican Consulate in San Diego to do paperwork for a temporary resident visa and we met up in Dana Point for dinner! Wow, right! She was heading back the next day so lucky me that the magic of a meet-up worked and thanks to A&C for being so flexible.

Although the idea was we’d celebrate Cynthia’s birthday with a sushi feast I was the one who got a present. I fell hard for an artist from San Cristóbal, Kiki Suarez, and Cynthia brought me a wonderful selection of her work. You can find her things here at Kiki Mundo.

Xander Is 21

Today is Xander’s 21st birthday and Jeff wanted to buy him a Crown Royal, Jeff’s beverage of choice. We all had a very delicious dinner at Guido’s in celebration – thanks Windy for inviting me to join in!

More Later

More later? I’ve been meaning to go around and take some pictures in the garden while things are happy from all the rain – grapefruits, oranges, Meyer lemons, kumquats, and all the plants are feeling it for an early spring. But no, not yet, no more pictures. This is nice though! Rosemary, lavender, lantana, Santa Barbara daisies, all happy happy. (The wisteria in the background hasn’t come to life yet nor has the persimmon tree.)

Two Lunches And Dinner

This is Rome’s picture of our yummy lunch – Tacos!

.

Then Rome treated me to a Starbucks of their own design followed by lunch with Lilly at PF Chang’s. And then Angela made a delightful and delicious dinner. Is that a good day or WHAT?!

A Few Pictures From The Week

Windy and Lona with Lona practicing her laughing-photo-face.

And here’s Windy’s new fireplace and mantel decor.

Caleb sent a picture with his New TRUCK, livin’ out in the country as he does.

Cute, right, from our Christmas dinner extravaganza.

A view out the window of my doctor’s office.

Some views at the Century City Shopping Mall.

My &*%$ Ankle

That’s me these days, a SLUG.

.

In the 7+ weeks since I fell I’ve seen five medical professionals and recently had an xray. The three doctors and the two physical therapists told me exactly the same thing. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine, you’re not doing anything wrong. Honestly, that’s what they all have said. Deep breaths! I’m starting a course of physical therapy on Monday, not just a consultation, because at least I can do that. I think it was better this morning but I’ve been thinking it’s better every morning. Still, I’m not worried, I’ll be fine, I’m not doing anything wrong.

(ps NO FALLING my friends.)

Lacrosse Crafts A Bookstore And A Cat

Rome and Oliver, making valentines.

.

Chloe is teaching Lilly the basics of Lacrosse because Lilly is going to try out for the team in a week. And Chloe knows the pose, and puts on a good game face too!

Rome and I had a tasty Indian lunch and then went to a cool used bookstore where…

…they had a great cat! Rome took the picture on the right of me taking the picture on the left,
and the cat has an instagram page = theagathachristie.

From Anya In College

Anya and her excellent roommate Olivia…

.

…and life in the dorm.

The dorm took a trip to Yosemite
and the bus got stuck in snow for 7 hours on the way back!

First Time In Six Weeks

That’s Oliver and his half-brother Dude. Dude is sleeping over for a couple nights – he’s the one with the spot on his head.

Due to me being away in Mexico and then returning with an ankle sprain, and on and off illness with DAR&L, this is my first chance to visit in six weeks. Awwww. Rome and I had lunch together on Friday and then we went to three fun second-hand stores.

Rome took the picture on the left and I took the one on the right…at the Same Time!

.

Rome had acquired all the supplies to make candles which we did, Rome, Lill, and me too. What fun!

Then the next day, on Saturday, D&A put on a party in celebration of Angela’s birthday. Liz, Gary, and Dev came in from the desert and it was delightful. Oh Yum, tiramisu, entirely homemade even the ladyfingers, by D&A.

.

And THEN Lilly had some friends over for a slumber party. They made this sweet treat by melting Jolly Ranchers in the microwave, then you take a grape on a toothpick, dip it in the Jolly Rancher then in Pop Rocks and then you eat it. It was a kick and you could even hear the Pop Rocks popping, but I’m failing to get the video to load in here…

Poem-A-Day

I subscribe to a service that sends me a poem every day in the middle of the night and I look forward to waking up so I can see if there’s a new gem or a ho-hum or a what-the-heck. This was today’s and I’m still picturing those last three lines. (This is one of my photos on the pier from 2004.)

Davenport

The man has chosen
that he wants his ashes scattered
from the end of the pier

where he used to fish with his buddies.
They’d sit on overturned paint buckets.
Sometimes the waves gusted up

and the hems of his pants got wet and salty.
He liked the gulls that stood on the railing,
all puffed up with sky.

Having made the decision,
he walks at dusk to the end of the pier
and looks out at the sea.

As he turns away, he sometimes gives
a small, happy nod, like a man
thinking yes, I will buy this house.

It’s Not That I’ve Been Doing Nothing

It takes some time to get through 4 1/2 seasons of a TV show, trying to keep my foot up. Yellowstone, oh my goodness, as someone on the internet said, and I was thinking to say, ‘it’s a red-state Succession’ featuring a dysfunctional backstabbing cast of unlikable characters and their efforts to control an empire. And I can’t stop watching…

My sisters have been around, Sharon came to join me for brunch, and Persian Poetry has been happening,

I went to the doctor and got a nice thumbs up on my ankle. Patience he said, more rest, more elevation, you’ll be fine.

Fine, more rest, more elevation. Will do.

I went for lunch and a movie with Ben and Bonnie. We saw The Fabelmans and all agreed, if you like Steven Spielberg you will like this movie. We liked it.

Of the ten best picture Oscar nominations I’ve seen five so good times ahead.

We had our Monday Ladies Lunch after which I went to the Chinese Foot Massage place and it was wonderful. The guy really tended to my bad foot with hot towels and some magic balm that felt great.

Olé!

My new paloma is happy in the window.

Here are some decor enhancements from Mexico, mostly from Cynthia, and they’re so cool!

This weaving has been on my wall for 40 years and who remembers what color it was to start with but Cynthia chose the balls and tassels, a hugely popular craft in Chiapas, and look at those companionable colors. Wow, right!

I should do a larger picture of the picture, it’s about a jaguar parade, so cool, and the pounded tin angel makes me smile.

I also brought home a new technique for cutting grapefruit that Cynthia taught me. Now I see those grapefruits on the tree and I think YES, easy-peasy, I’ll have a grapefruit!

Sunday Will Be Four Weeks

Sunday will be four weeks since I sprained my ankle. Level 1 sprains are supposed to heal within 1-4 weeks and the doctor in San Cris said that’s probably what I had. (Level 2 sprains are supposed to heal in 4-8 weeks.) I also saw a couple of physical therapists in San Antonio to confirm I wasn’t doing anything wrong. And I have an appointment to see another doctor a week from Friday to check in and get a referral for physical therapy.

So I’ve been taking it easy. My sisters have been around, and Jo Ann and Muriel came over for a meal, I’ve visited with my tenants, and I’m getting better by millimeters every day. I can easily stand, and easily walk for short distances ever so slowly. The bruising seems gone but I’m still a little swollen.

Oh so much more than anyone wants to know (the last physical therapist put the tape on but most of it has fallen off already)…

And here it is, Sunday, wayyy not done!

Three Days Later

The welcome home view out my back door.

I arrived home so comfortable from my first class flight that Cynthia sent along with all the other first class flights she sent as part of my gift, a wonderful trip in Mexico which included 5 nights in Mexico City and a week+ at her home in San Cristóbal de las Casas.

Each leg of the journey went without a hitch so here’s cheers and Thank You to Cynthia and thumbs up to Aeromexico.

Thanks to Michi too who hosted me for a week at her home in San Antonio Tlayacapan.

Coming home I luckily hit the timing perfectly between California storms and the day after all those flight cancellations due to the FAA computer ‘glitch’. Windy picked me up at LAX and I’ve been lazing around ever since.

Now three days later I did unpack my suitcase, run the wash, order a load of groceries… Marsha stopped by to get some oranges and grapefruits from the bounty of the backyard, and I am able to walk with almost no limp, slowly, but I’m feeling good that I will have forgotten about it by next Sunday, which will be four weeks since the sprain.
